Idol of the day: Patrick Michels

Three hundred and sixty-four days a year, my idol is Homer Se. But today, I want to honor Pat Michels, my old roommate. His feature story on a truck driver who was injured while doing contract work in Iraq (this does not at all do the story justice; read it!) recently won first place among small circulation weeklies at the national AltWeekly Awards.
